Just wondering if anyone out there has ever failed a fuel check? If so, did you determine the cause or cure? More than one team had this experience at E Town. Brownman and the FNG's:(

    Fuel

I'm Assuming The Fuel Was Fresh, You Guys Were At The Grove Right?? We Tossed All Are Left Over From Last Season .when I Went To Load The Jugs For Englishtown I Noticed Alot Of Moisture On The Bottom Of The Jugs, They Sat On Concrete For Most Of The Time ??? Tech Also Was Having Problems With That New Gadget They Have Been Using It Was Sucking Air And Giving False Readings
At The Top End Not Sure If The Had Fixed It When The Were Testing In The Lanes???

Before our first qualifing pass we were checked in the lanes by "PETER THE METER READER" and passed. We sat out the second round and ran the third. We got checked again before the scales and flunked twice. We then got checked the old fashion way and passed with flying colors.Next thing you know all of the cars behind us were standing at the trailer with the fuel sample cups in hand.I didn't see any with a YELLOW TINT to them.Back to the drawing board for that meter.

    Our Luck

That is kinda what I had heard in the pits. WE made our first pass at 5.92 and flunked the Fuel Check. Missed the next call while we were cleaning out the "works". Needless to say we ran fast enough to make the field on the first pass but ended up going home. We also spent 1.5 hours in the Body tag line. ( and we were not alone). Used up all my good arguments there!
Love those NHRA guys  Brownman

I Personally saw 3 People fail on Friday @ E-town. 2 Alcohol cars and 1 Nirtous car. The Funny thing is that they all said the same thing "we just got this fuel today"

We were checked before the 1st qualifying round in the lanes and came up OK, and was told we didn't have to check again at the scales. We missed 2nd round and didn't improve the 3rd round, so we bypassed the scales, but we did not get checked in the lanes. What was happening to the guys that failed in the lanes? Were they allowed to run and then get rechecked at the scales? Is this going to be a new proceedure by NHRA to check in the lanes?

I feel checking in the lanes is the only fair way to do it.

We were checked in the lanes also

What happens if you fail in the lanes? can you dump fuel and re-fuel? Or are you out before you even run?

    Confusion?

We were checked in the lanes and failed. Told that we should run and get checked afterwards and should be a more accurate reading. Didn't seem like anyone there knew what they were doing. Suppose I should have argued the issue. Know that at least one other did so and got told " keep an eye on the fuel" Makes me feel so much better! NHRA ( Nobody Had a Real Answer) Now I understand. Brownman and the FNG's

Yes you can, you can make it right in the lanes. But after a run you are what you are. And I have seen it change after a run from the staging lanes. At Pomona this year at fuel check on the big end after a run we came in at 95%, was pretty mad and baffled, had them check it three times. Went back to the pits and came back 15 mintuets later and it checked out at 96.5, most of the time it goes up after a run or stays pretty close to the number. So it really is a joke. And this is why I feel it's more fair to do it before a run.
