    fresh air retro kit

I do not think such a thing exist.because it would be altering the helmet, thus making the sfi tag not good,or at the very least I have never seen one!

Simpson told me they would do it, BUT it has to be a helmet that does not have any exposed outside vents, such as the regular Bandit style...if you know what I mean by that.

When we switched to TAFC I asked them the same thing, and unfortunately I had the Bandit with vents so I had to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

It might be cheaper to get a new helmet. Simspon advertises the Funny Car Air System for $743.00.

    Ouch!

    old helmets

it's funny, my dad ran his alky f/c for years with the old style open face with the mask, and he survived. Hell, the nostalgia top fuelers run NITRO and a blower and can run the open face. Remember when guys with nitro f/c's ran them??? Most all of them are still here and kickin'! I know it's for our safety, but damn that used to look so cool.

As of 2007, those of us running Nostalgia Top Fuel won't be allowed to run the respirator mask/goggles combination any more. Full face helmets only. Bill Dunlap and Brendan Murry were about the only old school guys left that wore the respirator hoods. We use the Impact! helmet with the filters built in, it seems to work very well, or our driver isn't one to complain about a little whiff of nitro.
