Foster looking to bounce back in Tulsa with Safety Tech

<img src="http://www.insidetopalcohol.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=222&thumb=1&d=1270165754" align="left" borders="0"/>TULSA, Okla. – Defending NHRA Division 3 Top Alcohol Funny Car Champ Chris Foster will be looking to return to championship-form during this weekend’s Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Tulsa Raceway Park. Foster, who is currently third in Division 4 standings, will fly the colors of Safety Tech, Inc., as the team’s primary sponsor for the event.

The event was originally scheduled for May, but was postponed due to an onslaught of severe weather in the area that week. The team was entered for this weekend’s Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio, but decided to come to Tulsa instead.

“Safety Tech decided to support Foster Racing, so we made the decision to support them, and come back to the Tulsa race,” said Foster. “We haven’t started the year the way we had hoped, but there’s still a lot of racing left to do and we have a good car. We just had one of those weekends where nothing went our way in Houston, so the best thing to put that behind us would be a solid outing in Tulsa. With Safety Tech on board with us, we’d love nothing more than to put them in the winner’s circle.”

Todd Martin, owner of Safety Tech, who also races in the Outlaw Pro Mod category (LethalThreatRacing.com), met Foster and his Crew Chief Will Hanna at the PRI Show last December.

“We at Safety Tech, Inc. are very pleased to team with Chris and Will,” commented Martin. “I have known Will for a while now from his racing with Division 4 Funny Cars and at some of the Pro Mod Shootout races. I am a racer and understand the cost to be competitive. I saw the look in Chris’ eyes when we met at the PRI Show this year. He has shown he has what it takes to be a Champion and we at Safety Tech would like to help Chris and Will to accomplish this a second time.”

Hanna is confident the team will return to form in Tulsa.

“It’s disappointing the car count has been down this year in D4, but that’s beyond our control,” stated Hanna. “The cars that are there are plenty tough, there are no gimmes. We are really making some progress on some new things we’re working on. We are a good team, we just need to keep doing our thing and the results will take care of themselves.”

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars, followed by two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
