Foster back with Forbes Construction for Houston

foster hou launch.jpg BAYTOWN, Texas – Former NHRA Division 3 Top Alcohol Funny Car Champion Chris Foster will once again fly the Forbes Construction colors as the teams primary sponsor for this weekend’s Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Royal Purple Raceway just outside of Houston. Foster recently clinched this year’s Division 3 Championship, but still wants to finish the year strong in an effort to land a spot in the national top-ten standings.

Foster, from Davenport, Ia., is pleased to bring Forbes back on board as primary sponsor. The team won the season opening event here in March with Forbes as sponsor.

“It’s hard to ask for a better sponsor than Tom and the guys at Forbes Construction,” said Foster. “Instead of us providing the hospitality for them, they provide the hospitality for us, and plenty of it. They set up a BBQ pit that is about as big as our transporter and entertain company guests all weekend and keep us well fed. It turned out great on our last trip down here as we ended up winning the event.”

Team Crew Chief Will Hanna, who lives in nearby Deer Park, Texas, hopes to use the weekend to work on a few things for next year.

“When you have the pressure of racing for a championship, you tend to go with what you know works rather than try new ideas,” said Hanna. “We have no plans to try anything off the wall, but hopefully we will get a chance to develop a few things we’ve had on the shelf all year.”

Foster enters the event 9th in national standings and hopes to make a late-season move in those standings.

“We have to reach the final here in Houston to add to our points,” commented Foster. “There should be plenty of tough cars there, so that will be no easy task. We really just want to make a strong showing for Forbes, DragRaceHose.com, Motorsports Unlimited, RBS Superchargers, Red Line Oil, NRE X-1 Heads, Ace Clutch Discs, Goodridge Hoses & Fittings, Victory Valves and Morel Lifters. It would be nice to get the bad taste of our DNQ in Indy out of our mouths.”
