I'm working on our 02 firebird body, and was wondering if anyone can answer a few questions.

The front edge of the nose is exactly 40 inches ahead of the centerline of the center of the left wheel. Measuring from the center of the right wheel, the measurement is 41 inches (there is a 1" stagger in the chassis). The rule book says 40 inches, is this within the rules? (is the rule intended to be for the forwardmost spindle?)

Also, are we allowed to build on to the bottom of the front lip to make the front lip closer to the ground, or is the contour and height of the body closely controlled?

40 inches is max REGAURDLESS. there is no plus or minus allowance. thay (nhra) is very strict on the body rules. also NO altering the body. most of the times there is on exceptions made at all. its either right or you fix it at the track or you just don't race.

40 inches includes the 1 inch lip around the bottom.
