    FOR IMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE

The grassroots effort to acknowledge and recognize the Top Alcohol categories has expanded to include the 24th Annual Summit Racing Southern Nationals. Due to the hardwork and enthusiasm of David Smith, who recently announced a Fan Appreciation Award for the 50th Annual Mac Tools US Nationals and the 4th Annual Carquest Nationals in Joliet, additional alky fans and a one-race sponsor has come on board to expand the fan appreciation award to include the 24th annual Summit Racing Southern Nationals to the list.

My name is George Turner, owner of TEAM PTI, Prestress Transportation, Inc. and TEAM PTI Racing, based out of Pendergrass (Commerce), Georgia. Prestress Transportation, Inc., a small trucking company that specializes in the hauling of over-dimensional prestressed and pre-cast concrete is proud to place their name along with David's on these awards.

The awards have been named the:
"Fan Appreciation Top Alcohol LOW ET Challenge"
A plaque and a check for $250.00 will be awarded to the low e.t. qualifier in each of the following categories:

Top Alcohol Funny Car (low e.t. qualifier)
B/AD Blown Alcohol Combo (low e.t. qualifier)
A/FD Injected nitro combo (low e.t. qualifier)

After several conversations between David and myself, we really felt that the best way to recognize all of the teams hard work and efforts was to give an award to all three of the types of cars that make up the alcohol classes.

I was really touched by the generousity of David when he announced his intentions in an earlier message on insidetopalcohol.com. Since I am a racer and currently own two Super Comp/Super Pro dragsters and three Junior Dragsters that compete here at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA in the Summit E.T. Bracket Series and the O'Reily Junior Dragster division, I know what it means to have fans out there do something special for you. I also grew up around racing as a teenager when I attended numerous Division 3, National (both NHRA & IHRA), and special events like the Popular Hot Rodding Championship at U.S. 131 Dragway in Martin Michigan. My father Bill Turner, was a rep for Quaker State, so we got many chances to meet a lot of the drivers in the alky ranks (It was called PRO COMP at that time, so I am dating myself a little). I have some very fond memories of watching the likes of Dale Armstrong, Billy Williams, Jeg Coughlin, Sr., Ken Veney, Don Woosley, and Dave Settles, just to name a few, race during the late seventies and early eighties.

Both David Smith and I will be attending the Southern Nationals and look forward to meeting with the drivers and crew and being able to present these Fan Appreciation Awards. It is our hope that this Fan Appreciation effort will gain momentum and spark additional interest in other fans and/or companies that would like to add their names to this effort. If you know someone or would like to find out yourself how you or your company can get involved with the Fan Appreciation awards for upcoming 2004 races, please contact either David or myself at the numbers listed below. We would be thrilled to be able to up the purse or add additional races to the three that are already listed.

David, George, Thanks for supporting the best class in drag racing ;) (we have always said if we had all the money in the world alcohol racing is what we would still be doing) If you are ever on the West Coast be sure to stop by the Woz camp. David keep posting those pictures I really enjoy them. [IMG]

David, be sure to bring George by the Chicken Chokers trailer. As we ran Pro Comp with John Speelman driving at the time, I remember all those racers well!

Thanks everyone I look foward to seeing everyone in Atlanta and throughout the rest of the 2004 season.

Chris I see Gerry has Ennis Texas on the schedule I plan on attending that race so hope to meet you there. I drive to all the races I goto so thats about as far west as I go. Glad you like the photos! I am working on another project with the photos I take at the races. I am planning on making a web gallary and posting the pictures I take under each individual drivers name this way fans can click to view pictures of there favorite drivers or teams can use them as memories or show potential sponsers there car in action.

Len tell Alan if he does not answer my emails I will post his mug shot I got of him from Ennis last year. LOL Glad to see you and Alan were able to partner up for the 2004 season. Division 1 should be interesting this year.

Will lets see what you got! Should be interesting alot of heavy hitter cars will be in the house in the dragster class both a/fuel and blown.

    Goodluck everyone!
