    Ethanol.

It's certainly a buzz word in American Society right now. Question is, is this the real deal or a flash in the pan topic due to $3+ gas we saw earlier in the year?

Now this thread isn't for a debate on whether it's the wave of the future for all of our energy needs, but rather, is the Ethanol movement a real enough deal that the alcohol classes need to jump on board?

With the money the Big 3 in Detroit have spent in Ethanol cars, etc., I'd be willing to bet, it has enough longevity to serve a purpose to alcohol racers.

I think allowing Ethanol in could really open some doors for the category and racers. In a nutshell, Ethanol is a big buzz word right now, and marketing types love their buzz words. What better way to get an Ethanol message out than on the side of an Ethanol fueled alcohol car?

Maybe some on the IHRA side can come enlighten us on what sort of fuel system changes would be required. How easy/hard is it to check compared to methanol?

    Racers, sound off!

I don't know anything about what it would take to switch over the cars, but I know I'd love to see it. History has proven that if we open up technology like this in competition it's going to spur all kinds of innovation that the private sector will run with, make tons of money off of and hopefully turn out a better product because of.

Either way, what is there really to lose?

Were do you by Ethanol, and how much does it cost a gallon. We have a Ethanol plant right out side of our town. What Kind of changes would you have to make to run Ethanol over Alcohol.

We are going to begin Test Ethanol after the first of the year. I don't know the modifications on the car yet, but will know very soon. Apparently there are 3 changes (minor) of parts that help create the same BTU's as the methanol. Since I'm not the expert, this is all that I know for now.

The company that I'm working with will be a distributor of Ethanol for those of you who are interested.

But we are work in progress right now, so as we get farther into this, I'll keep you posted. And maybe Mark Thomas or Bunny Burkett can do some enlightening on the subject at hand, they know more about it.
