Can anyone recommend a good engine out distance? From Axle centerline to rear motor plate for a Front Engine Dragster?
Chassis is 180". Nitro Donovan. Direct drive. FED weighs 1700lbs.
    Cheers

I would look at the low to mid 40's.

In my opinion 40 is way to far out. definitly to far out for a direct drive aplication. I would put it out 36 if I were building the car. and at least 2 degrees down. crank center line as low as you can get it and not wear a hole in the oil pan....

Thanks guys. I had 42" out with an alky motor and lenco. Now going nitro and direct drive so I had 36" in mind. Thanks for confirming I'm on the right track.
    Cheers

Back "in the day", My Top Gas car was 30.5 out. The pipe was originally built as a T/F car, 30.0 out. When we lowered the rear axle, to get ground clearance with the smaller tire, it grew .5.

My 200" sbc/glide car is 37.5" out with almost no dump, and i have to carry lead on the bow to keep it near the earth.
