Had my engine stumble and kinda pop and quit while investigating a transmission problem on jack stands in the pits. Was at idle. Acted almost like running the tank dry. That was my first thought. Had to take trans out anyway so pulled it out and checked all lines, etc. for blockage. Trans fixed and all put back in car. Still acting up. Like super lean on startup, spits & coughs. So changed fuel pump. Same. Timing seems right. Nothing obviously broken. Compression checked each cylinder 150#. Engine was fine prior to investigation of trans problems. Blown Chevy. SM3. Dazed & Confused?

    problem

When is the last time you had the magnets recharged in your mag? If its an original SMIII it probably doesn't have the rear earth magnets like the SMIV. Or maybe a coil issue.

A bit of a fluke that it would have happened right when you were checking your trans but just putting it out there.

One thing you could check is the bolts that hold the gear on to the camshaft. Could possibly be loose and slopping back and forth.?

    Hi,
If your mag has an external capacitor, make sure it is secured to the mag to ground properly.
