What is a good Judgement call when a engine block is pretty well used up?I am planning on something like KB standard deck raised cam block in a funny car for local type racing . So my Question Is how many windows can be welded in one of these blocks or how much have some of you Guys seen one of these blocks take before they are Junk?
    Thanks

As a budget racer, I pretty well use them til they can't be used any more. I don't think the number of window is a big deal, although it's nicer to have an original piece. As long as the main line stays straight and true, and there are no cracks or fixes on the mains, you should be OK.

one thing to look for is if the mains are under..as in it has been line bored way to much then things become a major issue..if it has the mains fix with saddles it's ok but if it needs saddles it gets priceee, as far as windows if fixed right no problem...just take your time and look real close at it..are u looking for a block? if so let me know

One thing to keep an eye on is how many times has it been line bored or honed? Sometimes when it is done it moves the centerline of the crank closer to the centerline of the cam. Eventually that wll cause oil leaks at the front seal. Dave Germain
