What do you guys use to transport spare engines or shortblocks in your trailers? We haven't ever had that problem before but we are hoping to this winter. Dave Germain

I built a stand around my engine front motor mounts and motor plate , then put locking casters on it.
e-mail me if you want me to take pictures and send to you.

I built a heavy duty version of this http://www.eastwood.com/chevy-small-and-big-block-engine-stand-no-casters.html minus the castering wheels.

I used rectangular tubing on the bottom large enough and spaced correctly to lift and move with a forklift or pallet jack from either the end or the side.

The thing I like best about it that I always struggled with before, is that it uses the stock mounting bosses and I don't for anything. Before the motorplates and oil pans were always in the way, it would almost fit but not quite...
I intended to use this for a spare motor in the trailer but the spare stayed in the shop all summer:D

I just bought a heavy duty version of the stand SoDak posted off Ebay for about $50 delivered. Looks like an average guy building them in his garage, but they looked pretty stout. Was gonna build it myself, but for $50, wasn't worth the time. I'll try to post a pic when I get it.

I built a stand that minics the frame rails in my car. Use a spare motor plate and front mounts, its ready to go when needed.

OK now who makes the handle type things that everyone uses to pick up the motor and put it in the car at the track.

    Walt Austin

Walt had engine cradles that mounted the motor by the front ears and rear motor plate. His had wheels that were retracted when it was in the trailer but if you screwed in a bolt the wheels would drop down and it would roll around. I have seen another one that had wheels on the front and when you put longer tubes into the (frame rails) you could move it around like a wheel barrow. Does anybody have one like either of these? Please send me a picture of what you have. Dave Germain dgerm10777@aol.com
