Idle can vary from 400 t0 700* depending on how good or bad the intake manifold is. The normal max EGT at the end of a full 1/8 or 1/4 mile run is 1050* plus or minus 50*. So you would be somewhere in between.

    here's my $0.02

i don't like the question "what should my EGT's be" or "what is safe"... because EGT's are relative to YOUR engine, probe placement, and YOUR tune-up. so in my mind giving an exact number can be 'dangerous'... just have to put whatever numbers you get on your EGT's with what you see the motor telling you it wants (ie, bearing, plugs, oil, etc)

not asking what is safe! was asking about aluminum headers. and it looks like they will work since i only run 150 to 200 feet.
