The 47th Annual Coors Funny Car Shootout was a spectacular show of man and machine this past Sunday at Eastside Dragway in Waynesboro Virginia!

With SIX of E.S.E's Earth Shakers, the fans had a little of everything thrown at them from Funny Cars to Altereds, pedal fests to 1/8th mile side by side burnouts!

Bunny Burkett with her Dodge Avenger, Bill Naves and his Dodge Stratus "CAR-GOYLE" entry, "LB" Pritchett driving Bunny's second car, Jim Dickey and his "My Favorite Charity" 23'T Bucket Altered, Tony Cannoy with the "Mad Scientist" Firebird and Delbert Whites wild 38' Fiat bodied entry!

We kicked the show off with Ms. Bunny herself up against the sick 38' Fiat of Delbert White! Bunny raised the bar right out the gate with a monster burnout that the fans showed their appreciation for! When the two lined up and the tree came down Bunny pedaled her beautiful Dodge Avenger to a 4.37! Delbert went into immediate tire shake but was intent on giving the fans a show. He pedaled his beast all the way down the 1/8th mile until he was sideways! It was an impressive show!

Next up was Eastside Dragways Track Record Holder, Jim Dickey with his 23'T Bucket. Jim had big plans for the weekend, wanting another shot at his own track record. Tony Cannoy was loaded too with his gorgeous Pontiac Firebird. When the lights went green Dickey over powered the track going into nasty tire shake while Tony Cannoy gave the fans a pedaling 4.47 to take the #2 qualifying spot for the time being!

The last pair of first round would line up the veteran, Bill Naves with his mean 2006 Dodge Stratus up against the kid, Gary "LB" Pritchett in Bunny's second Dodge Avenger. The two put the fans right back on their feet with 1/2 track burnouts! Naves was out early with a great .997 60' time but the track wouldn't hold as both competitors went into tire shake! But the rookie, LB Pritchett never lifted and would put his ride in the Final round running low ET of the round with a 4.30! That would set the final round up..... LB Pritchett would take on his boss lady in Bunny Burkett. We would have an all "Bunny and the Boys" final at the 45th Annual Coors Funny Car Show down!

Second round was for consolation only with LB's 4.30 and Bunny's 4.37 putting them in the final. But that would not stop the rest of our Earth Shakers for giving everything they had! Out first for the 2nd round were our two Altered bodied teams with Jim Dickey and Delbert White. These two wild looking rides were set for kill! At the green Delbert went straight into tire shake pedaling his 38' Fiat to a great show, but it would be all for not as Jim Dickey took his 23'T Bucket past the 60' foot with a time of .987! Jim never looked back and was ONLY THREE HUNDREDTHS off the track record when he blasted to a 4.04 LOW ET of the meet!

Bill Naves and Tony Cannoy would try and put down a couple of numbers but the two just could not get a handle on the tricky race surface. Both cars shook hard and both drove towards their respected guardrails! Naves would take the win but was disappointed he did not have a better outing.

The FINAL TWO Earth Shakers to pound it out at Eastside Dragway for the weekend was Bunny Burkett and her up and coming star godson LB Pritchett. The fans thought they had already seen it all, but when both cars fired up they then laid down SIDE BY SIDE 1/8th MILE BURNOUTS all the way through the lights! When the two finally backed up to the starting line it was anyone’s race! Both teams left hard at the hit and were side by side through out the 1/8th mile with LB Pritchett taking the narrow win with a 4.22 at Top MPH of the meet 184 M.P.H to Bunny's 4.33!

E.S.E would like to thank Eastside Dragway and the fans for an amazing holiday weekend race. We hope to be back at Eastside in the fall and already have plans to be back on Easter weekend 2012!

Would have LOVED to have your fiat there, but it looked like a 10 plus hour ride for you and the money would not have been right for that kind of trip. Hoping to get a few closer to you. We will see.

    Hey Tim,

Eastside at one point was a 1/4 mile track. Thats why the stands seem to be at the finish line. It is always a packed house on Easter Sunday!
