After a big win at the Dodge NHRA Nationals last weekend, Duane Shields' fortunes were reversed at the NHRA Regional event held the following weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Duane was eliminated in round one after a great qualifying effort.

Duane was briefly the number one qualifier of an epic Top Alcohol Dragster field where everyone had to run in the 5.20's just to get into the field. Duane was topped by Joey Severance in the last stanza and Duane ended up second in the qualifying order with a decent 5.22 at 272 MPH.

In round one, Duane was paired up with James Stevens. At the hit it was Duane out first with an .055 to Stevens' .101. After Duane got out of the hole he began to lose traction giving Stevens an insurmountable lead. Stevens took the win with a 5.37. "We had a mechanical problem but were happy with how well we qualified. A lot of good cars didn't get in the show." Duane explained.

The PEAK team will now move on to the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona for their final race of the 2019 season. "We are excited to return to Pomona with a new car and are looking forward to the 2020 season beyond that" Duane said. Duane would like to thank PEAK Antifreeze and Motor Oil, Final Charge, Blue Def, NGK Spark Plugs, GRP Connecting Rods, Brad Anderson Enterprises, Hot Wheels Car Care Products, SRI and Clean Boost for their support.
