We have been plagued with crank trigger pickups failing down track. Tired them all, Leah, MSD, FEI. All of them fail. Just a matter of time, causing us to lose a run.

Is there anyway to run two pickups in parallel to the MSD Ignition in case one fails going down track the other will take over? Something like a Y cable, two into one connector. One pickup on one side of the crank, the other on the opposite side.

My fear is about dual signals going to the Grid box and mag.

    Thanks

The biggest failure we have is not the crank trigger itself but the contacts in the crossover switch bouncing and appearing to be a bad crank trigger. If you are using a crossover switch then try it without and see if those bad crank triggers are good again. Use a ohm meter and read the resistance between the two pins at the end of the crank trigger they should read between 42 and 47 ohms, then read from each pin to the metal case and to the center of the pickup that should read infinite. What air gap are you setting yours at. The best method is to use a zip tie which is about .045" thick and use it as a feeler gauge. Works just fine. Lastly be real careful on how tight you clamp the sensor in the bracket, if it is too tight then you will short out the sensor.
