I think Dan will make some needed changes. He's completely right about the motor situation. One thing he didn't touch on is that monopoly big teams have because of it. You look at teams like DSR or Kalitta and you see all the MILLIONS they pour into their parts. They dont care if they blow an engine because money means so little to them at that point. But then you have the racers that can get to the track but cant afford to go all out and break everything. I hate seeing racers put in the position of not qualifying or going all out but not being able to race tommorow because they wont have an engine.

That is true, The big thing is , Even if the low buck teams had some money to buy parts they still can't because the money teams buy in bulk, and buy up every thing,( there's just nothing left ) so they have to miss races or run with stuff they know will break, till the parts they order come in, personaly I think that what Don Garlets idea back in the 70's was a good idea, but like guys that look down the road and see the slow down sign before every one else , no one listensd to him, his idea was to have a rule where you could only use one motor ( BLOCK ) per race, All internal parts could be changed between rounds, if you think about that today it woulden't work out, but one block per day would. Think about that Dan Olsen. Geno 777 ;)

I would not claim to have nearly enough tech knowledge to give a specific solution, but I dunno about the one block per race... I think then they wont race to such extremes as to blow everything up, and everyone knows thats the best part of a T/F drag race. ;-p

    too far gone

i think the modern day fuel racing machine is too far gone to go to such a move. the bye runs created by such a rule would really put a damper on the show, which after the pomona starting line debacle, seems that the show now trumps everything, including safety.

it would be nice if they really do listen to the racers and make a change accordingly.

    pomona

When I raced Jr's in Division 7, Pomona was the best track (and I was very proud to be track champion the year we moved to Florida) and run by a guy we all called "Uncle George". He was the most amazing track manager I think I will ever meet. He listened to all the racers and I know he wouldnt have put anything before safety. I dont think he works for Pomona anymore, but I could be wrong. NHRA needs more people like him.

I did say 1 block per race would not work, I also said 1 block per DAY, if you can't get two runs out of a block, in a day, well I just don't know the answer.
On race day ( Sun ) now you got to know what your doing, Then he can say I got the best crew chef in the class, The way it is now "the best " is there to make him go fast, blow up all his $hit, and sell him new parts. Your tax dollars at work. ;)

    army car blowing up

I would much rather watch my tax dollars spent on drag racing than a lot of other government spending. At least I get to enjoy.
