Donovan gear drive question

After I degree in my cam, who knows how much advance / retard you get if the cam gear is shifted to a different hole position? I understand the vernier effect, just want to know if I can mark each of the 7 bolt holes with a number.

Easiest way especially first time is go ahead and try it in all seven positions, degree it, and note it for future reference. That way there is no guesswork later...

I don't know about the new drives, I'm stuck in the 354/392 era, but the old ones had a chart. It was very confusing to us the "A hole to K hole or B hole to D hole was toooo far out. Wat we did was to set the crank straight up, split the overlap,(straight edge across the #1 lifter pair) and walk the cam gear around till it fit. Then to advance or retard the cam, pull the top gear off, move the crank and refit the gear. Worked fine...took 5 minutes.

 

I run the Milodon gear drives and they come with a chart. I would think that Donovan offers the chart also, give them a shout.

I have a chart for RCD and Milodon gear drives just not the Donovan gear drive. I had one but I can't find it. I can email them to you if want?
