    Harker-Meyer Team Back On Track

Houston, TX – Australian rookie driver, Diana Harker made a solid second round appearance at this weekend’s O’Reilly Spring Nationals March 28-30 for the Lend America, Randy Meyer Racing A/Fuel Dragster Team.

After a challenging season debut only two weeks earlier, the Harker-Meyer Team started out the weekend with a strong 8th qualifying position after making successful 5.67, 5.42 and 5.55et passes to keep the team in the top half of the 16 car field going into eliminations.

Saturday’s first round match ups saw the Harker-Meyer Team paired against the number 9 qualifier, Jeff Isball in the Sunk’n Treasures A/Fuel Dragster. Harker took the starting line advantage and never looked back, defeating Isball’s 5.49et at 259mph pass with an impressive 5.43et at 243mph pass for the Lend America Team and advancing them to their first ever second round debut at an NHRA National event.

Round two of eliminations took place on Sunday morning and proved no easy challenge for Harker, pairing the young rookie against number 1 qualifier, Duane Shields in the Shortline Express Dragster. Harker with the lane choice over Shields soon found it would not be enough to hold off the Division Seven Champion as Meyer set the A/Fuel car of Harker’s to kill and watched on as Shields made the first move out of the gate and never faulted while Harker went into serve tire shake around 100ft and had her hands full keeping the Lend America Dragster under control. Shields went on to make another impressive 5.27et at 272mph pass to add to his list of 5.20 runs for the weekend defeating Harker’s 8.41et at 120mph pass and the Shortline Express Team would eventually claim a runner-up finish against Randy Eakins’ Red Line A/Fuel Dragster Team in the finals.

“We couldn’t be happier with our team’s performance this weekend. It was great to make a strong start and qualifier in the top half but then to take a first round victory in only our third National event is pretty amazing. We’ve struggled with the cars performance over the last few weeks but it was exciting to finally put down some great runs here in Houston, knowing now we’re making the power needed to be competitive.” Said Harker

The Harker-Meyer team move on to the LORDS Division Four Event in Dallas TX April 11-13, for their first division event of the year and will continue on to Harker’s hometown track for the Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals in Atlanta GA April 24-27.
