Harker-Meyer Team Gain Edge on Performance in Dallas

Ennis, TX - It may not have been a win for the Harker-Meyer Team at this weekend LODRS Division Four event held at the Texas Motorplex April 11-13 but it certainly proved the Lend America A/Fuel Dragster Team are back on track after making a career best run of 5.33et at 248mph.

It’s been a stressful two weeks for the Harker-Meyer Team as they made the long trip home from the Houston National Event and with only just over a week to spare and needing to rebuild a complete new rear end for the dragster along with outfitting and loading up their brand new trailer. So when the team pulled into the Texas Motorplex it was certainly a great relief and most importantly, proved what this sport is all about, team work.

Making the eight car field for the Division Four event was not going to prove an easy challenge for the fourteen Top Alcohol Dragster who turned up for the event. After Friday’s first session there were a lot of mixed results however the Harker-Meyer Team made the number seven qualifying position with steady a 5.60et at 248mph pass.

Saturday’s second qualifying session saw the Harker-Meyer Team in the last pair of dragsters to make their runs and by the time they fired Harker’s car the team were sitting on the outside looking in. It would be on this run that tuner, Randy Meyer would put the A/Fuel car to the test as the car left with an impressive 0.910 60ft and never looked back. Harker wheeled the Lend America dragster down the quarter mile for her quickest pass to date, with an impressive 5.33et at 248mph run that took Harker and Meyer to the number one spot.

The final session proved more of a challenge for the team as they looked to hold onto the number one spot in hopes of making history. Harker’s father, Steve had already claimed the top spot in the Alcohol Funny Car Class opening the door for the first time ever of father-daughter number one qualifier’s in the Top Alcohol classes. The Harker family’s dream of reaching this goal would soon be put on hold as the Harker-Meyer car went up in smoke at the hit, over powering the track and both teams watched on as Texan local Spencer Massey ran on through with 5.32et at 274mph pass to take the number one spot off Harker.

Not to be disappointed, the Harker-Meyer team was more than happy with their second place qualifying position, their best to date going into Sunday’s eliminations. Round one match-up paired Harker with the only blown Alcohol Dragster on the property, Darvin Martinets. Martinets had run as quick as a 5.49et at 232mph to claim the seventh spot and when Harker’s car again smoked the tires at the hit in round one eliminations, Martinets drove on through to take an easy win with a 5.53et at 232mph pass.

“For our first division race event for the year I am really happy with the way we performed here this weekend. It would have been great to get the car down the track again making another good low 40 high 30 pass but the weather conditions snuck up on us and really proved to be some of the best we’ve seen so far this year. But to go out and run a low 30 in qualifying is really something to be excited about, my team did a great job and worked hard all weekend and not to mention how great it is to know that Randy is really getting this car to run with the best.” Said Harker

The team now looks forward to moving onto the Summit Racing Nationals at Harker’s home track, Atlanta Dragway in Commerce GA April 24-27. Harker will be kept busy the week leading up to the event as Diana and her twin sister Kate will be making a special guest appearance on the Atlanta local radio station Rock 100.5FM Thursday morning April 24th at 7.30am.
