Taylor Prepped to Rip the Strip

ANAHEIM, CA — Dennis Taylor’s Plumbing Concepts Top Alcohol Funny Car has showed increasing signs of promise lately. Coming into this weekend’s SummitRacing.com Nationals where the NHRA tour visits The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, we could witness one of the toughest alcohol-fueled showdowns this facility has ever seen. The tuning braintrust of Ora Vasquez and Terry Morrow both feel as though a break-out performance is on the horizon. During recent outings, the planets have been just a bit out of alignment, but they know they’re very close.

Ora mentioned, “Although this is really a high-altitude race track, we don’t necessarily treat it that way. We can generally get after it here.” Morrow added, “In spite of the weather problems we had in Houston two weeks ago, we came away with some good solid data. We’re not exactly where we want to be, but we’re closing in on it (referring to the tune-up combination).”

Dennis Taylor’s first Division 7 win came at the old Las Vegas track, but The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway hasn’t yielded much luck. The Plumbing Concepts team is bound and determined to begin making their own luck at this juncture. Taylor noted, “I heard the notorious right lane bump has been repaired, so if that’s true, we should have a more even playing field than years past. I like racing here, so we’re ready to mix it up.”

The pre-entry list shows 26 top-quality cars capable of winning on any given day, while only 16 will qualify for Eliminations. Dennis added, “With that caliber of competition, we need to make the most out of every qualifying attempt. This is the real deal here.” Weather conditions are forecasted to be on the cool side, as Saturday may bring the warmest temperatures of the four-day event.
