    Taylor Trailered in Semi-Finals

ANAHEIM, CA — Dennis Taylor’s Plumbing Concepts Funny Car powered into the final round last weekend at Infineon Raceway’s Fram Autolite Nationals, running career-best numbers along the way. This past weekend, the team returned to Infineon for the fifth event in the Pacific Division 7 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. A total of 15 Top Alcohol Funny Cars attempted to break into the eight-car qualified field between Friday and Saturday. By way of a strong 5.642-second run at 254.52mph, Taylor held the number-one position until the final pair of cars on Saturday afternoon, when his effort was eclipsed by a mere two-thousandths of a second. Dennis was still pleased with the results, as crew chief, Terry Morrow, also tuned him to a consistent 5.694.

Sunday’s first round of eliminations found Taylor with a huge holeshot over seventh qualifier, Alexis DeJoria, as Dennis cruised to an eye-opening 5.559-second win, at just a tick under 260mph. That strong run stood for Low E.T. of the event. Dennis noted, “The first round featured the best weather and most favorable adjusted altitude we’ve seen here this weekend. Terry told me it was gonna haul the mail and it sure did. I can’t say enough about how my guys are preparing this car.”

The semi-finals featured Taylor with lane choice against Ron August, Jr. Weather and atmospheric conditions were virtually unchanged from round one, although the track temperature had increased by eight degrees. August struck first with an otherworldly .013 reaction time while Taylor suffered severe tire shake at the hit of the throttle – so bad, his chute deployed, though there was no catching August Jr. at that point. Terry Morrow commented, “These cars are so competitive, it can go either way. We ran strong this weekend and if I had it to do all over again, I’d probably make the same calls. We feel like we have a combination that’s not only more consistent, but one that’s also more predictable. Dennis and all our sponsors deserve to see this car winning rounds and it’s great to be back in the hunt.”
