    Taylor Set for NorCal Slugfest

ANAHEIM, CA — With several round wins under his belt recently, Dennis Taylor looks for consistency and performance at this weekend’s Fram Autolite Nationals at Infineon Raceway. As a regular stop on Taylor’s annual competition calendar, the team has volumes of data from previous laps on the Infineon quarter-mile. Mid-week forecasts called for bright sun with temperatures in the low 80s throughout the event. However, the Napa region is known for blistering heat with track temps well into the triple digits. The main concern here is a high level of competition, as 23 cars are pre-entered and several more could show up.

Taylor mentioned, “We’ve had a good handle on this track in the past. But with the exception of last weekend’s race in Seattle, we’ve been running on marginal tracks where lots of compromises were made just to get to the finish line. We expect this surface to be very well prepared so it’ll be important for us to read the conditions carefully and make a strong run right out of the box.”

Fortunately for Taylor, his Plumbing Concepts co-crew chiefs, Ora Vasquez and Terry Morrow, will be responsible for that careful analysis in order to keep up with the changing conditions. Vasquez added, “National events like this allow us to better utilize the power we have at our disposal. At some of the tracks we’ve been on lately, we’ve had to de-tune this thing in order to keep from beating ourselves. Hopefully, our set-up will yield a top-eight spot here. I think that would put us in good shape for race day.”

With final round appearances at both national and Divisional events to its credit of late, the Plumbing Concepts Funny Car is favored to be right in the thick of things. Be sure to watch the Lucas Oil Sportsman show on ESPN2 this Saturday (9:30am Pacific) to see Taylor’s march into last week’s final round.
