Two Races in One for Taylor

ANAHEIM, CA — This weekend, Dennis Taylor returns to Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington, for some unfinished business. Just one month ago, Dennis battled to a final round berth in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, only to have his momentum postponed. Having run a few more races since then, Taylor feels his Plumbing Concepts team is well prepared for that important final round, as well as this weekend’s Schuck’s Auto Supply NHRA Nationals. Dennis mentioned, “This type of extra incentive is something my team thrives on. That puts pressure on us to figure the track out early, as we expect the postponed final to happen during our last qualifying session, but we’ll be ready.”

Taylor’s enthusiasm could be tempered by the weather, as rain is forecasted for Wednesday through Friday. Crew chief, Ora Vasquez noted, “We’re scheduled for two qualifying sessions on Friday, the third on Saturday, followed by the first round of Eliminations. If the weathermen are close to being right, all we can hope for a decent race track. Fortunately, we’ve got lots of notes from previous trips here that’ll help us make our tuning decisions.”

Co-crew chief, Terry Morrow added, “As it stands now, 18 cars are pre-entered and nine of those are from California. I wouldn’t be surprised if a half dozen more show up, since we have two more races back-to-back in Sonoma.” With the level of competition they’re facing, the Plumbing Concepts team is aware that power and consistency are the keys to success during this three-race stretch. In closing, Taylor explained, “We look forward to putting this car on a national event track and if the weather clears, we hope to run some good numbers. Two trophies would be nice, but we can only fight for one at a time.”
