Taylor Concludes “Tour de Tribulation”

ANAHEIM, CA — Dennis Taylor and his Plumbing Concepts crew will roll into Auto Club Raceway at Pomona this week with a clear slate. In spite of their struggles while learning the nuances of a promising new power combination, they’ve continued to soldier on and represent their major and associate sponsors in a professional manner. Dennis mentioned, “Though we haven’t had much time to regroup following Las Vegas, we took this thing apart and found some surprises in the fuel system and corrected them immediately. Everything else was pretty happy, in spite of the fact that we had lots of tire spin, which caused the motor to visit the upper stratosphere in terms of rpm last weekend.”

Like all races at the fabled Pomona facility, the popularity of the venue, along with California’s beautiful fall weather has caused 26 Top Alcohol Funny Cars to appear on the pre-entry list. And while many of them are from the West Coast, several will travel quite a distance to be part of the 2006 season’s last dance. A few of those out-of-state racers will be coming from Texas, Iowa, Indiana, and as far away as New Hampshire. Crew Chief, Ora Vasquez noted, “We’ve won here before and come close on other occasions. Believe it or not, I’m still excited to have the opportunity to try and make this car fly. Although it’s made me scratch my head a great deal this year, it’s also showing me that we’re not that far from turning it into a bad-fast contender.”
