    Taylor Turns Detective

Anaheim, Calif. – Dennis Taylor is lucky his K&N Filters / Plumbing Concepts Funny Car is still in one piece after disappointing qualifying efforts in Las Vegas a few weeks ago and at last weekend’s Auto Club Finals. First indications pointed to a bent wheelie bar as the cause of his consternation, though it appears that was just the tip of the iceberg. Top Alcohol Funny Cars are basically “shocked” off the starting line after the engine is revved anywhere from 7,000 to 10,000 RPM. Taylor’s car began taking a right-hand turn immediately after he let the clutch out, and with an abundance of Alan Johnson horsepower, it’s been uncontrollable. Dennis will become a detective, as the next thing to look for is a failed weld or a cracked chassis upright. That demands total disassembly and a very tedious inspection, so with the 2009 season wrapped up, time is on his side.

Dennis noted, “Due to business demands and general economics, we raced less this year than any season I can remember. Of course, family and business come first and second (respectively), so racing had to take a back seat. And like many teams, we raced a limited schedule without any pre-race testing.”

After a few days to reflect, Taylor extends a sincere thanks to long-time marketing partner, Plumbing Concepts, his friends at K&N Filters, Accurate Drilling, Moroso Performance and all his valued associate sponsors for their confidence in his team throughout 2009. He’s also proud to have assembled one of the most respected crews in drag racing. Dennis added, “My marketing and P.R. specialists are also a very important part of this team. Their strong support and creativity has allowed me to focus on other areas and they always have my team’s best interests in mind. We’re all hoping for a better year in 2010.”
