Half Season Comes Full Circle in Pomona

Anaheim, Calif. – During 2009, Dennis Taylor has raced his K&N Filters / Plumbing Concepts Funny Car about half as much as years past. That’s due, in part, to some challenging sponsor cut-backs, his personal business demands, and his common sense approach to running this program. Taylor noted, “When I decided not to chase the points this year, I put a reasonable schedule together and stuck to it. We’re lucky to be able to start and end the season at our home track, right here in Pomona. This year, I’ve been proud to represent K&N Filters and to be part of its respected motorsports program. K&N products are known worldwide.”

After the recent Lucas Oil Nationals in Las Vegas, Dennis had a strong, new wheelie bar fabricated. That was necessary due to the premium traction and a very hard launch during qualifying. With those issues aside, he comes into Pomona with confidence. Crew chief, Terry Morrow added, “Dennis usually does well here. He’s gone to the winner’s circle and runner-upped, so I guess our car just likes this place. I’m looking forward to seeing the cool weather come in.”

Forecasts call for temps in the upper 60s to low 70s, which is basically perfect for the Top Alcohol Funny Car contingent, so the Auto Club Finals will be a battle.

In the two weeks since his last outing, Dennis has worked night and day to physically set up the new Firesuit Division of Taylor Motorsports Products, while familiarizing himself with the embroidery machine and the fabric plotting and cutting operations. Taylor commented, “Our new Firesuit Division is a natural addition to our product line. It further demonstrates our commitment to manufacturing top-quality racing safety equipment right here in the USA. But now I’m in race mode and so is my crew. These guys work hard and they’d like to taste success again here. I’d like to do well for them and for my great sponsors.
