    Taylor Guns for Champion Championship

ANAHEIM, CA — Once again, Dennis Taylor is competing in NHRA’s always tough, Division 6, dubbed “Land of the Leaders.” This weekend’s challenge happens at Champion Raceway in Medford, Oregon, where Taylor has made it to the final round in the past. And although he’s scored two consecutive final-round efforts in his most recent outings, Taylor and his Plumbing Concepts team still has work to do. Dennis mentioned, “Things were really going our way two weeks ago in Seattle and we wish the final round could have gone off on schedule. However, with two more races before we get to run that postponed final, we’ll have a great deal of additional data to tune with.”

Champion Raceway will also allow Team Taylor its second opportunity to test the latest set of “Muscle Heads” from Alan Johnson Performance Engines. In order to learn more about those promising components, Dennis will take advantage of Thursday’s test and tune session, hoping to put at least two laps on the car. Veteran crew chief, Ora Vasquez said, “It looks as though they expect the weather to be fairly consistent throughout the weekend, so Thursday’s runs will help us get a handle on the air and track conditions.”

Co-crew chief, Terry Morrow, added, “We’ve been on a rollercoaster so far this season, as our performance has made us smile at times and scratch our heads on other occasions. A strong run here can do a great deal for our team and for our point total.” Dennis continued saying, “Division 6 has some of the toughest cars in the country and I’d expect to see several cars from our own Pacific Division 7 this weekend.” Friday’s qualifying is scheduled for 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00 pm with Top Alcohol Eliminations in the same time-slots on Saturday.
