ANAHEIM, CA — Dennis Taylor and his entire Plumbing Concepts crew continue to attack their mechanical challenge head-on as they prepare for this weekend’s 21st Annual NHRA O’Reilly Fall Nationals. A higher level of enthusiasm always comes with the opportunity to race at Billy Meyer’s fabled, all-concrete Texas Motorplex in Ennis, just outside the Dallas area.

Noting the teams absence of luck this season, Taylor stated, “I still don’t think we’ve scratched the surface on what these new components from Alan Johnson Performance are capable of. Like everything else in drag racing, it’s been a learning curve and a win would obviously salvage the season.” Crew Chief, Ora Vasquez added, “We’re in test mode for the rest of the year. To be perfectly honest, every time we crank the starter motor, we learn more about what this thing wants.” Looking at this week’s contest, 24 Top Alcohol Funny Cars are pre-entered for the 16-car field. Two qualifying attempts are scheduled for Friday with one more on Saturday, and Eliminations are set for 1:30.

To achieve that, a weight bar filled with 25 pounds of lead shot is bolted to the front of the car, while other bars are placed strategically to help balance the car.
