    Taylor Up for Texas Tussle

ANAHEIM, CA — The Plumbing Concepts Top Alcohol Funny Car team brings anticipation and the confident feeling of being well prepared as they gear up for the O’Reilly Fall Nationals at Billy Meyer’s fabled Texas Motorplex, just outside Dallas. With this being the first of two events that end their season, Dennis Taylor looks for a strong performance. Glancing at the pre-entry list, only 27 other competitors could rain on their parade. Taylor noted, “We always get up for this race, having been to the semi-finals in the past. And being the only all-concrete track we run on, we can tweak the tune-up and get a bit more aggressive.”

Co-crew chiefs Ora Vasquez and Terry Morrow have faced challenges and solved problems all season long. Most of those challenges have come from marginal tracks where grip was virtually non existent. Vasquez mentioned, “I’d like to see a more favorable forecast, but we’re looking at warm conditions that will force us to make the right calls without going too far with it.” Morrow added, “Our combination taught us some things recently and our chances look good here. We just can’t afford to lose a run by getting too far over center.”

Season-ending point implications loom large for these final two races. Prior to Texas qualifying, Dennis Taylor has secured a Top-5 spot in NHRA’s Pacific Division 7 standings. And with a good showing at the Texas Motorplex, he stands a solid chance of moving into the Top 10 in the national rankings.

Dennis looked back on the season and commented, “We haven’t had our best year, but we battled through it all and won rounds. We’ve won in Division 6, runner-upped in Division 7, and gone to a national event final. My guys have worked really hard on the Plumbing Concepts car and they deserve all the credit. We’re all ready for a wild Texas shootout.”
