HIRATA MOTORSPORTS TO RACE AC DELCO GATORNATIONALS
Dave Hirata to keep Torco Racing Fuels on board for 2008

GAINESVILLE, Fla.(March 13, 2008) – Longtime and popular A-Fuel driver Dave Hirata will compete in the Top Alcohol Dragster class during this weekends AC Delco GatorNationals in Gainesville, Florida. Although much speculation circulated on the team well being after the off - season withdraw of his primary sponsor Torco Racing Fuels, Hirata and team are geared up and ready to start off on a positive note.

“Our plan is really to test, because we had the Valdosta test session in the works,” said Hirata. “But because of budget constraints and tightening up things, it couldn’t happen, so we’re going to use this race as a test session. Hopefully, the more rounds we go, the more we test.”

Despite not being as well tested as desired, Hirata feels it shouldn’t put him or his team at a disadvantage during competition.

“Everything should be the same as last year. There weren’t any rule changes. We should be able to throw the tune-ups at it that we went at last year when we went to the semi-finals here. Hopefully we’ll be able to do a little more because we learned some stuff at the end of last year. The budget constraints really won’t have anything to do with it. We just lost a couple laps we wanted to make last week in Valdosta. As far as I’m concerned, if we’re smart enough we should be able to give it our normal tune up deal and go down the track.”

With the loss of his primary sponsor, Hirata is still showing his loyalty to Torco Racing Fuels and their founder Evan Knoll. Keeping his Torco themed team and car intact, Hirata still feels he has a purpose to remain with the Torco team.

“We are calling this the Evan Knoll get well car. We’re going to run all of his colors here. We’ve cut out some of the longer races for the year, but the more races we do well at the more we race. If we do bad, we’ll keep racing too because we’ll need to test more. I guess we’ll just race about the same amount as we did.”

Hirata’s first race of 2008 should prove to be exciting. The entire team remains hopeful and positive in the face of the latest adversity. With solid previous race seasons, Hirata Motorsports feels the AC Delco GatorNationals should run as smooth as any other race for them.
