HEDGES LOOKING FOR NATIONAL EVENT WIN

DINWIDDIE, Va. – Top Alcohol driver Dave Hedges has a monumental task for this weekend’s NHRA Torco Race Fuels Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park – he wants to deliver a victory for team owner Evan Knoll. Hedges is very much aware that the odds are stacked against his blown alcohol dragster combination but that doesn’t stop him from going after the victory with full intensity.

Of course, this weekend’s battle will be determined by the weather and who adapts to it the best. A weekend full of cool and rainy atmospheric conditions will certainly make for both a tuner’s delight and nightmare. Friday’s qualifying was cancelled and Saturday’s competition will provide the only opportunity to make the 16-car field.

The big if remains…if it ever stops raining.

“That’s the big issue,” explained Hedges, who was signed as Knoll’s driver last season. “We just have to get after early and get after it hard. Every qualifying session is important. We would really love to provide Evan a win at his event. We would also love to win one for the blown alcohol dragster fans.”

Hedges opened this season with a positive test session in Valdosta, Ga., and each outing has resulted in marked improvement.

Hedges most recently qualified fifth at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division 3 event in Columbus, Ohio.
