    qwickdata

The best place for the "box" is in the middle of the car, for best function of the accelerometers. The transducers can be obtained from practicly any where, you configure the settings in the program (alot easier than racepak), just give the supplier the pressure range you need and it must work for 12 volts. We used a Qwickdata in our preveus car and it worked fine, now we have a Racepak, and we are trying to get a non Racepak sensor to work, thats not easy (so far we did not get no values from it), so help are appreciated.

    Datalogger mounting

Yes, in front of the engine and as far forward as possible, within reason. But don't go reconfiguring your car just to fit the datalogger. You'll need easy access so you can download the runs. It would pay to mount it on isolators to reduce vibration.

Mount it on a flat plate of aluminium with a box-lid of sheet steel over the whole lot to shield it from any stray signals. Make sure you earth the lid well. An earth return back to the battery is always a good idea, but just to a good earth point will be sufficient.
