I have an 8.0 drag boat. Blown, alcohol, chevy.
I have decided on an RPM.
What do I need to monitor besides?
    RPM
    Voltage
    Oil temp
    Water temp
    EGT
    Fuel pressure
    Oil pressure
    Blower pressure

What am I forgetting? The accelerometer would be helpful I guess.
    Anything else?
This is not a high tech piece. Just a bracket boat.
    Thanks

    RPM system

Call Randy at RPM, tell him what you are doing and what data you need, he is a really nice guy to work with and will build a unit to your needs and budget, and if you can swing it, I would add a boast temp and fuel flow meter?
    just my 2 cents

I was wonderng about the flow meter. How usefull is this for my application? (mild bracket... 800 to 900 hp ish).
Boost temp... I had not thought about that. Will there be a significant difference? Does ambient temp change it much, or more overdrive?

    I ordered the system today.
I did not get the flow meter. Maybe Santa will bring it.
Where to I plumb in the fuel pressure sensor? After pump, or after barrel valve?
I have the square enderle barrel valve with port and hat nozzles.
    Thanks

I have the same setup in my PE jet boat. I am also using a RPM Performance data acq. system and I like it. An accelerometer is a must because you can see were the boat hooks up. I also have a port pressure gauge.

I have connected a Digital-7, 7531, to launch the boat but haven't tried it yet. I'm first planning to try the Launch Retard set at 10 deg. for 2.5 sec to prevent the motor from over powering the jet pump at the launch. If that doesn't work I'll try the Rev Limiter Curve.

Maybe we will see each other at the World Finals? Good Luck, Joe

It depends on what you're looking for...
1-if you want to correlate real life nozzle psi so you can plug this into a math formula than you'll want the psi sender close to the nozzles like the dist. block
2-if you want to better figure out when to turn on the high speed you'll want it close to that

I just got the box in the mail today. I did get the acceleration meter thing. I figured it would help with prop slip occasionally for me.
World finals are to far for me to drive. I don't like the seat of my truck that much. LOL. I am a midwest racer guy. Mostly KDBA, some SLDBA and the Cove.
I think it will be a valuable tool... much like a hammer. I bet I learn stuff that I thought I had figured out.
I will go for the flow meter and a throttle position sensor over the winter.

I just wanted to see if my fuel system PSI is close to what it should be and vary nozzle size accordingly as needed while tuning ports.

Here is where I get confused.... How is all pressure in the system not the same? It seems as everything after the barrel valve should be the same. I believe you that it may vary, I just don't get why.
    Thanks

Can i have an idea of money to spend to have a kit like that , without the flowmeter.
    (retail price will be ok)
    Thanks

I have a pressure transducer at the front side of the barrel valve and then another on top of the #1 port nozzle.

    Example:
    Barrel 128 lbs
    Port 84 lbs

You would be amazed how much all those lines, block and fittings make up for losses !

WOW! I am amazed actually. I think I'll put mine by the barrel valve and useit as a reference for pump condiiton, real pressure, etc.

About 1900 to 2000. I have engine rpm, battery voltage, blower pressure, fuel pressure, accelerometer, 8 EGT's.
He had some used stuff he sold me at a discount. I e-mailed back and forth for a week. He never seemed to get pissed off. Ordred it up, there it was.

(I paid a little less since some was used). He did not push the hole system as set up as packages on the site. Her sold me what I thought I needed.
    Great patience and fast service.

Got my system and am in the process of mounting it. The directions say not to mount the EGT boxes on the engine. Is that because of heat? Or vibration. Translation... can I mount them on the motor plate? No heat to speak of, open boat.
    Thanks
