curious more then anything..have been reading lot of threads about oil return being slow and causing oil pressure drop at shut down area...also few has made comments that they was running jeff's pan and had oil pressure drop then went with other brand and sloved it..i have jeff's pan on my bbc..got bottom half pan off now installing heater in it..had to remove screen that covers 3/4 of pan bottom..screen is very small openings..so just curious i held it up and had buddy pour qt of 50wt brad penn oil[at room temp]and noticed very little of it went past screen and at a very slow pace....i understand with oil say at operating temp[180 or ??]that it will flow better but still it's a big restrick trying to return past screen....
my thoughts is way couldn't person leave screen out completly?i'm thinking you have 14 qts oil in engine then most is above screen so does it really do anything?would it make any differance with it or without it in any way???LET'S HEAR EVERYONES 2 CENTS PLEASE.SHOULD MAKE A INTERESTING THEARD;;;;.

    Low oil............

That's why people use an accumulator.

I agree, get all the screens out of everything. I even switched the screen in my lifter valley, used a really coarse screen, just for the big chunks.

    Call Jeff

I was running a 2 pcs pan with the screen and was having the same problems. After talking to Jeff he said the screen did not do what he wanted and has changed his design. The screen is replaced with a louvered tray. He also modifies the pan to accept a second tray (just a piece of aluminum) that seals the area around the oil pump, stopping the oil from going up past the pump in the back of the block (2 1/2 ltrs) and staying there . I belive the mods were a few hundred but would have to go back and check.

The other interesting thing he said was that very little oil returns to the pan during the run, so have enough oil in pan to make the whole pass, as said above an accumulator works well.
