Make sure the pilot is engaged in the crank and use bolts with a shank length long enough to go through all the non threaded parts.

You don't have a friend with a lathe? Should take less than 30 min to cut you some spacers to your spec. My car had thick steel washers when I bought it. Upon inspection I found that they weren't real flat. I made up a set out of 6061 aluminum that are working great so far.

We use a 3/16 drill bit this makes a perfect go nogo gauge

Find a shop with a lathe, or even a guy with one in his garage, as long as he can make them all the same.

Store bought washers are not flat and are rarely the same thickness from piece to piece.

Depending on your converter manufacturer, some offer machined aluminum spacers that bolt to the lugs with #10 flat head screws. Marty Chance has them in several thicknesses for his converters. They are the same profile as the lug with a recessed flat head allen screw on each side of the bolt hole. I keep several thicknesses on hand so that we can set converter depth when changing a crank or engine - the hemi cranks rarely have the same measurement from the crank flange to the back of the block.
