Does anyone know what the max HP that can be, or rather has been made with a conventional teflon stripped 8-71, not high helix or "retro" and running on methonal? The reason I am asking is because what I see out at the track they seem to stop at a certain point and everyone has a 14-71 of some type. Even the conventional 14-71 doesn't seem to do much better than an .8-71. I see them running from 4% under to 50+% over (the 8-71s) small block, big block, hemi, what have you. They seem to make roughly the same power (1200 t0 1500 HP) depending on the skill of the tuner. I know I'm going way back in time, but, there was a day when 8-71s were the limit and I was wondering how far anyone got or theoretically can get.

When monster trucks still raced (vs freestyle) Bigfoot was making right at 1500HP.
8-71, std helix, low OD limit, 500cid, methanol
They were running very good parts and Sellin was/is a great tuner.

I can tell you that the latest SSI HH 8's we run today perform very closely to the last LF HH 14 (Davenport mods, I'm geussing the blower was early 90's vintage)we used in 1998. We actually make about 200 HP more with the 8's but some of that can't be credited to the blower.

On that Bigfoot deal i was told they were at 15:1.
Also those heads were very good Ford Hemi heads.
