Connecting Rods

    There have been some teams that have briefly touched on the subject, but a detailed answer has not to my knowledge been posted.


    1. How many passes do you get on rods.

    2. Do you pull the pins and recon them to get extra life out of them?

    3. What brand do you run?

    4. Do the TAFC cars pull them sooner than the TAD cars because of high RPM and longer stroke?

    1. with the brooks we changed rods at 12 runs. the new grp's you are supposed to be able to take further, but we have had other engine problems this year that have prevented us from getting to 15 runs.

    2. no we change pins with pistons. we run the big pin, and usually start getting cracks in the piston skirts around 17-20 runs.

    3. GRP rods/Arais Pistons

    4. dont know first hand. i talked to one of paynes guys, and i think they are getting about the same runs as us with the grp's.

    Childs And Albert deep cycle rods..Venolia pistons 15 runs on the rods and they are outa there.

    I run a Alcohol Funny Car

    I get 15 runs on my rods and they are removed.

    I change my pins with the pistons. Or if they are bent.

    J&E Pistons and Venolia Rods

    I don't know what the dragster guys do.
