I got a minute before I head back to Ennis, so here's what happened...

Contrary to what is reported on some internet sites, we fired before McClain, and did our burnout first. We had a problem in the reverser (busted planetary) and I couldn't get it to lock into reverse. I could get the lever partially engaged, but it would back up a few feet, then pop out of gear. I worked the system as quick as I could...throw it into reverse, back up a few feet and repeat the process. I could literally hear the reverser coming apart...sounded like a coffee can full of rocks over the motor. I honestly expected to get timed out or shut off. But, in competition, I wasn't going to give up until told to do so. Comp plus says we didn't start the car until McClain did the burnout, and that's just not the case. Had that been the case, the reverser wouldn't have been an issue because I wouldn't have burned out past the line.

I threw it into forward, double checked to make sure it was in low and quickly moved up to stage. I bumped in, 'heeled' it bringing it up to stage and focused on the tree. I let off the button, and before I know it, it was heading for the sky.

The car suffered only minimal damage, a crack on one of the a-arm welds and a busted body latch. We'll be back in action this weekend for the Divisional....

Will, Just so you know, Lenco makes two different length slide gears.

Sorry to hear about your Grandmother.
