Just got a 40ft pusher. That with the trailer will put me over the 65 ft
Combined vehicle length restriction we have here in Alberta Canada.

I am sure I am not alone with this problem. Are there options?
I know that with a B Train Semi, they can get a permit etc.

I have a 32ft trailer plus whatever the hitch is. So I guess I will end up about 10 - 15 ft over.

What are you guys doing if anything?

    Thanks in advance,

    Gary

I have asked this very same question. there are similare restrictions in the US that vary by state. From what I can tell, the police simply do not enforce it. Everyone I know that has a MH and a trailer exceed the limit.

Yes, I was thinking that is is hard to find a diesel combination that works. I would guess that most are over. Here it is 65ft but some places are 60ft.

I will try and see what happens.

    over length fines

I looked at a few states and they seem to be different. Here in Florida you can pull up to 60' on a non-commercial vehicle / trailer combo (that statute was very confusing to read and understand). Over length fines are as follows:
$40 up to 2 feet over
$100 from 2 feet to 10 feet over
$250 over 10 feet and an additional $250 for each foot over 10.

So here in Florida, if you were 15 feet over length, they could fine you $1,500 :eek:

California is chasing them down. Luck of the draw every time you leave the driveway.

In florida you can get a over lenght permit for $20.00 a year from the florida dot. On the web site. And yes florida will stop and fine you. But most of the other states seem to not mess with motorhome or racecar haulers.

    Overlength

I have the same combo, that I have worked my entire 23 years of racing TA/FC for. I finally got it, what I have dreamed of owning. Comfort for my crew and family, showers and actual beds not back seats of pickups or air mattress on trailer floors and leaving the car outside! Driving through Michigan for the second time I got pulled over. The cop was drualling telling me I don't know how much but this is going to help get Michigan out of financial problems. Then he says I am not going to follow you but pull over at the next turn off and pull into a parking lot and make it legal. I was shitting, I can't afford this crap? When I bought the trailer the sales guy told me I do it all the time they never pull over motorhomes??
Anyhow the fine was only $120.00 and I tried to talk to the goverment saying I would buy a permit but they are not available, I then told them I will have to buy my groceries and fuel in NY rather MI they said I don't care the limit is 65 feet.
    My $120.00 bucks worth
    Good luck

Yeah, it is tough to dodge the DOT guy when he camps outside the racetrack waiting on Roger and the rest of the guys to head home after the evenings festivities conclude.

Most cases just a money deal, them wanting to separate you from it.

    Sucks.

    Boo, sorry!!
