    Hi All,
In our blown altered is it o.k. to run the lenco and the dual chutes (air launchers) off of the same bottle? Is there anything special thing you have to do? Last question. Is it o.k. to put the bottle under my seat? Thanks

what I had to do is put on a c02 warmer it go on the bottle before the guage/regulator we plug it in the pits then unplug and go to the line the reason for this is with our timers ect. it was freezing up..Dave

Just plumb the system so when you pop your chutes you do not release the air pressure to your shift pods thus causing the transmission to downshift to low gear and skid the rear tires at speed. Not only would the rear tire speed drop suddenly but the tires would lose growth causing the car to start bouncing. Skid - Bounce - and of course the RPM went through the roof with the throttle closed breaking a few rods in the process stopping the engine and locking up the rear tires causing even more Skid - Bounce - Skid - Bounce - Skid - Bounce = WHAM 'that was the wall or the car in the other lane'

As for mounting the bottle under your butt - I would not put a pressurized bottle that close to my privates in case the bottle ruptured or the valve or regulator broke off in the scenario described above or a thousand other causes like tire shake. CO2 comes out of that bottle cold enough to FREEZE you on contact even through your SFI-20 suit and will displace oxygen you need to live on or freeze your lungs. Humans cannot breathe air containing more than 10% CO2 without losing consciousness.

CO, n carbon dioxide; a heavy, colorless, and odorless gas is lethal to humans in large to moderate concentrations.

A tank rupture or just blow off valve release will also fog the air making it hard to see if at all. You would not want to expose skin, eyes or mucous membranes to the escaping gas to avoid freeze burns.

Rules say bottle must be mounted Inside frame rails. This means fully inside.

Put the bottle somewhere easy get to the valve to turn it off when not racing and the weight is advantageous.

It is also better to mount the bottle with the valve pointing up as this prevents freezing the regulator with liquid and getting contaminates in the system...

CO2 is a liquid under pressure and you should NEVER heat a CO2 bottle/tank this will raise the pressure in the tank past the safety point and could rupture the tank or blow the valve off causing severe injury.

Use common sense when working with gasses under pressure. Take a gas welding class you will learn how to safely handle pressurized tanks and care for regulators.

Not all CO2 comes from clean sources and you can get debris in your bottle. An in-line Nitrous Oxide type filter is a good idea when refilling bottles.

EDIT = Here are some excerpts from the below site. I looked up after writing the above.

CO2 is combustible. When the pressure exceeds the maximum allowed and gas leaks out of the safety valve, the threat of an explosion exists. Always be aware of the conditions your tank is around.

    Temperature Warnings
When dealing with a CO2 tank, know what temperature the cylinder will be exposed to. When a tank is exposed to high temperatures, the risk of injury increases. CO2 tanks should never be used at temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature increases, the CO2 charge expands, causing pressure to increase. If the pressure exceeds the tank's limit, the gas will leak out of the safety valve. If you come into contact with the gas, your skin can be damaged.

    Overfilling
A CO2 tank is filled up 65 percent of the way with liquid. When the CO2 is expended, it turns to gas and the extra space is needed to accommodate the gas. When a tank is even slightly overfilled, the maximum temperatures it can be exposed to decreases. For example, if a tank can be exposed to a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit at normal conditions, when overfilled, the maximum temperature can go down to 90 degrees. When this pressure builds up, it leaks out of the safety valve, and accidents can occur.

    Thanks

Thank you guys for the answers. If i put the tank up front could i run it back the frame rails with steel line?
    Thanks Again

Co2 is also used in some specialty welding procedures also so if it was combustable, well need I say more:cool:

We remote located our air bottle and ran cold rolled aluminum line through the frmae rail to minimize plastic lines in our car. Works great.

    You are 100% right

That was something I CUT AND PASTED from the site given credit for it.
I should have read it all first. But it was late at night and I was tired.
Just shows you can not belive everything you read even when it is written by those claiming to be experts.
