Clint Thompson Enjoys Successful Outing in Charlotte

Clint Thompson had a successful outing at ZMax Raceway competing in the tough Pro Extreme class. With a total of 22 drivers trying to make the 16 car field, Thompson qualified 13th with a 3.80 and took on the always tough no. 4 qualifier Tommy D’april in round one. As the lights came down D’april got out of the hole first but spun the tires early in the run, meanwhile Thompson was on a clean run and grabbed his first ADRL round win stopping the clock with a 3.86 at 199.70MPH. D’april was right behind with a 4.44 at 169 MPH after struggling to gain traction in middle of the course.

In round two, Thompson faced Brandon Pesz. Unfortunately, the run was abandoned due to a mechanical problem. “We discovered a cracked burst panel on the rear of the supercharger which forced us to shut down and abort the pass” Thompson said. Meanwhile, Pesz spun the tires but still ran a 3.96 on a single to advance to the next round.

Even though Thompson’s day was cut short because of a mechanical problem, he was still pleased with how the weekend turned out. “We are definitely making progress and it felt good to make the show and get our first round win”. Thompson went on to congratulate his team mate Dan Myers and team owner Don Carter for making it to the final round with their Xtreme 10.5 57 Chevy. Thompson also thanked his crew and wife Danette for a milestone weekend.

The team’s next ADRL stop is in Memphis, Tennessee September 7-8.
