here's a classic example of how to get on a team for all of you out there that aspire to crewing on an alcohol team. we showed up to the race short handed this weekend. our normal clutch guy jb hudson couldn't get off work, nor could our 'do it all slash fab guy slash welder slash 'i hate these studs' guy john hammill nor our mission specialist mac mclean. so i brought my dad out of retirement, and snagged bruce meyer to do the clutch.

none of them were able to make it out on thursday, so it was just me and jason, when a local bracket racer i've known for a while comes up and asks if we need any help, that its been his dream to work on an alcohol or nitro team. being in the business for a while, i've seen the types that want to work as long as they can still go watch top fuel, go party at night, etc. i told him be careful what he wishes for. well, a couple of things still needed to be done, and i did need a hand, so i decided to test his 'mettle' so to speak. he showed he was there to work, and we ended up putting him to work all weekend. he did a great job. he did what he was asked and most importantly HE ASKED QUESTIONS instead of ASSUMING. he was a quick learner on things and didn't make any mistakes. as a result, we asked him to go to a few races with us in the future.

thats how its done. show up to your local race on wednesday or thursday, work clothes in hand ready to work, and you'll find a team. note, you may be polishing wheels or helping clean oil pans, but you got to start somewhere.
