Demke Looks to be Top Gun in Fallon

Fallon, NV- The Jerry Maddern Racing Peen-Rite sponsored Top Alcohol Dragster heads to Fallon, NV wounded but still standing this weekend for the fourth race in the Division 7 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.

The third race weekend in a row has seen the team travel from Southern California, to Topeka, KS, east bound to chi-town and now over the Rocky Mountains to Top Gun Raceway in west central Nevada. The ‘Circus Clowns’ are ready to perform this weekend however they will be one man down.

“Ludwig (the name of their primary Brad Anderson Engineering power-plant) is injured,” said Chris Demke, driver of the Peen-Rite Top Alcohol Dragster, who currently occupies the fifth position in the Lucas Oil National standings. “During the second round race versus Jim Whiteley last weekend in Chicago, the engine kicked a rod at 0.705 seconds into the run. The boys have put ‘Conan’ between the rails- we’ll see if we can be the barbarians this weekend.”

The Sunland, CA based team started the season off with a streak of four consecutive final round appearances. The past few events Demke admits, the driver has not performed up to his standards. “I’m not going to make any excuses, I’ve just had a good streak of bad luck,” said Demke. “In the final round of the Jeg’s All Star race I suffered a case of brain fade, was late and Reichert won. Sure we are disappointed we have not sealed the deal this season,” noted Demke. “We’ve got a bad hot rod that loves to run in the desert, the team has a great attitude and lots of talent- we’re on a mission to find Wally this weekend.”

Demke and the Maddern Racing team will begin their quest for Wally with a qualifying effort Friday evening at 6 p.m.

Saturday the Top Alcohol Dragster racers will have qualifying runs at noon and 4 p.m. Eliminations will be held Sunday at high noon.
