Wilson, from Winfield, Mo., was very disappointed due to qualifying 16th by only one .001 of a second after smoking the tires on the first two runs on a very difficult race surface.

??? Very difficult race surface??? Wells ran .40's constantly in qualifing.

I got to believe the above statement is a mistake about the race surface. The track was awesome.

One thing I did see on Jeff's car was that there was zero ripple in the tire. It looked like the MT's had 6 psi of air pressure in them.

Nice to see them win a couple rounds, but not sure if the track was the issue. That is really stretching it. Awesome to see Noah C. run in the .40's on a difficult race surface...

Dave has always ran good in Chicago. The surface wasnt what I would call difficult but maybe it was but the problem was that the sun was on it first round and it did get quite warm track temp wise. I think the track was more deceiving than anything cause at first it wasnt that good then on the 3rd qualifying pass it got pretty good then first round it went down a little due to the temp and then on sunday it just went to a ripping track like it usually is. Even chicagos bad is better than most places it was just a little hard to keep up with cause of the sun and then rain then sun and rain.

    TJenna,
To me, very difficult meant that the track was as bighten at the 60', 330'& 660' clocks as it was on the starting line. I honestly can't recall (in the last 20 some years)ever running on a race track that was that good from A to Z, round after round. Couple a super race track with tricky, less that great air conditions, and it was hard to get the clutch/engine curves right. We certainly struggled getting enough clutch in the car. We were putting so much heat in the clutch, it ate up two different sets of centrifical fingers. I'd love to have another shot at that race, with alittle more wisdom in my pea brain.

    Take care,
    Marty

So would I Marty except I was thinking I had a brain the size of a bean but that is bigger than a pea and you know more about it than me so now I am thinking more like a pinhead.

    Agree Marty -

but for someone reading the Wilson team update that wasn't at the track would come away thinking the track was bad...

And as you mentioned it was far from being bad.

The article should have read something to the affect that the team had difficulty getting the car to go down a great race track...

Good Luck the rest of the season
