Carbon fiber brakes on a TAFC? What are the pros and cons. Less weight is obvious but ....only on the rear axle? What do they do when you hit them cold? Aggressive when hot??

I can tell you from experience that the carbon fiber brakes will stop you much quicker. The steel brakes tend to have more grip or require less brake pressure to hold the car at the starting line. We ran the crbon brakes, took them off thinking we needed more holding power on the starting line, had some stopping issues when the chutes failed to deploy so went back to the carbon. The driver says with the carbon brakes it feels ike you don't have any brakes when you first apply them at speed but they quickly try to throw you out of the car and stop much faster. I would suggest you run the carbon brakes since you have them. If you have problems on the starting line put a 1500 lb. transducer on your computer and hook to the brake line. Thats the only way you will know for sure how much brake pressure you are applying. Sometimes the driver tends to relax his pull on the brake handel and no one really knows it , even the driver.

Under the general heading of "nuthin new...under the sun", does anyone else remember the Ground Zero T/F car from the late '60's/'70's? They had a switch under the pedal connected to a red light on the cage...so the crew could see when the shoe was on the pedal.

I've got a linear on the throttle and also the brake pressure transducer. You'd be surprised how many runs people driving the car to get license don't remember lifting the throttle! Tell you this, the squickest you can open the throttle and get back off in an a-fuel car is about six tenths of a second.
