Hard to tell. The tracks don't seem to want us (Englishtown) but I can see where NHRA has to manage space in a small facility (Epping). Look at Atco... not a national, but the finals on a perfect weather Saturday night had only racers in the stands... what track operator wants that?

The two sides for me is NHRA trimming pro-stock which seems like a big deal (like a death knell) but really taking a good effort with the Fox coverage to educate/expand interest in all the sportsman classes, even during the national event coverage.

Why start a thread like this? NHRA pays very little now -make the field smaller and there will be no one show up.They allways need fill in at national events and the alky cars are about a cheap as they can get.

Ummm.. to talk about the future of the class? It's no secret over on the funny car side car counts are down. Of the 13 nationals contested so far, only 6 have had full fields, and only four did you risk a DNQ. If they are willing to selectively reduce Pro Stock, who hardly ever causes delays (oildown) I see no reason why we wouldn't be in the cattle chute.

I'm not really proposing anything, just wondering what NHRA might do with the class. If they cut the field to 8, they would have full fields, could run all elimination rounds on Sunday & would cut down the chance of oildowns due to less cars. Maybe they would follow the P/S model & do it at select events. There were five events that had 13 or less cars.

The cars are the show, all cars. The sport is going backwards if they are regulating field sizes because of car count. When NHRA figures out that it is a show and changes the rules, promotes and caters to the paying spectator this will continue. All the cars running the similar combination, rev limiters, super charger rules - - - . Mike can remember when wedge heads, Afuel, Hemies, Fords all raced in the same class. When if you were brave enough to try and work on any combo, that NHRA did not tell you that you cant do that ? Drag racing is about going faster, if that stops, what then .
