What are the Hemi sizes? What was the stock size?

    Thanks.

Stock size is 2.000 inches. Most everyone runs the 2.125 inch journal now.

Thanks guys. If 2.125 is the most common, then I'm set to go.

The standard Chevy big block cam journals are 1.948". There are also 50mm (1.969"), "Ford" 2.124", 55mm (2.165"), and 60mm (2.364") journal camshafts in use for BBC. (Yes, there are some others, but these are the most commonly used.) Regards, Chase

Incidentally, the stock Chrysler 426 hemi camshaft journals step down in diameter from front to back. They are: 1.999", 1.983", 1.968", 1.952", and 1.749". Thanks, Chase

How much timing comtrol is gained from rigidity using a ford 2.125 to say 55 or 60 mm with the .904 lifter as the base circle can only get so big

PM or start another thread if you like, I'm BackMotor Mike w/ the rear engine funny car, soon to be injected Nitro, new engine almost completed (needs cam) My E-Mail >> FCRacr@aol.com Thanks :D

Hello John348, comparing the 2.125" journal cams that we offer, to our 60mm journal gun drilled versions, there are very decent theoretical benefits with the 60mm. ("Theoretical" is a neat word, if something doesn't come out in real-life like was calculated, it's a great easy way out.). The 60mm cam will have about a 42% increase in torsional rigidity (twisting from front to rear). The beam strength (deflection between journals, such as the forces that fully open valves exert) on the 60mm is up about 70% from the 2.125". There are certainly other factors that can be considered to find absolute values, but on an apples-to-apples comparison, these are the basic figures. Thanks, Chase
