    camshaft advance or retard

what seems to be the general in advance or retard of the cam shaft on blower engines building aroud 48 to 50 lbs of boost would you install it straight up to build the most boost or does it have that much effect on a blower motor
    thanks

advancing will give you more bottom end, retardingwill give you more top end, or that is to say it will move the power band. contact the cam manufacturer to see what they recommend

Also on the same line. My hemi cam is in at 34*@.050, if i move it to 37*@.050 will it retard the cam or advance it 3*?? Will it change the intake centerline from 110 to 113 ??

You are talking intake opening point right, 34* btdc goin to 37* btdc should be advancing the cam timing by 3*. If im thinking right.

Like Maximus said, it advances the cam.

Where your combination will work best depends on a number of factors. First off make sure you have enough valve to piston clearance to be moving it. Next it will depend on the type of blower to fine tune the cam. If your blower puts out a lot of boost down low, most likely you will not be advancing the cam to move the power lower on the starting line. If you have the type of blower that needs more rpm to max power then advancing could help.

Also the type of race car would enter your need for moving the cam. Short wheelbase ones are inherently more violent on the starting line and can be claimed down some by retarding the cam.

Clutch or converter, gear ratios, race track are some others factors. The bottom line is you'll need to start at a particular place and see what it tells you it wants.
