What is best to use to seal the drum onto the shaft of the bruno to stop it seeping. I've narrowed it down to this after replacing the seal and new gasket.

Help me understand this a little better. Is fluid leaking out of the unit? There is a ring seal on the shaft in front of the drum which can leak. There is a seal in the front of the Bruno pump and a seal in the back to stop the fluid coming out against the tranny.

its weeping between the shaft and drum spline and dripping down between trans and bruno. i refilled the bruno after installing a new rear seal and new back plate gasket, saw fluid there again so got my torch, wiped it dry with a handy towel - there it was - slowly weeping

I now have the shaft out and drum pressed off, there is evidence of what looks like loctite on the splines, but only a very little.

should i use loctite and liberally coat the drum splines and also maybe something like copper coat to insure a good seal.

I dont want to put rtv in there

Do you put silicone sealer under the counter sunk screw heads that hold the back plate on? If not do that and see if the leak stops.

Fluid can also get by the rubber seal that the dipstick tube pushes in to, it settles in the little "well" right where you are seeing it.

with transmission removed - fluid is definately seeping along the splines of shaft between the drum splines and the shaft splines that the drum presses onto.

It really needs some sort of sealer to stop fluid travelling along the shaft.

Do i just use lots of loctite coating the drum and the shaft splines then press drum back onto the shaft?

    c/s screws are not leaking.

    dipstick rubber not leaking

Bruno seals those splines with grey "Right Stuff".

No i haven't - reason being we are in the south pacific time zone and have, (at present its 7.22pm Sunday 1st Nov where as in California for example its 10.22pm Saturday night 31st Oct) kept missing them with the time zone difference.

Instead I thought ITA is pretty reliable in these type matters.

Thanks for the 'Grey Stuff' I may have some of this - its known as crank case sealer if im not mistaken - I use it to seal the ends of blowers I rebuild - will use this.

Sorted it, bought permatex right stuff - grey minute gasket - leak is now cured - thanks to all
