I was trying to get some info on adjusting the trans brake band on a Bruno, does any one know how to do this and how often it needs to be done? we are running about 2200 H.P, BBC what would be the limmits on stanging RPM that a bruno unit will hold?

Thanks again for all of the help !!!

I don't think you can adjust the band. It's on 2 boss's in the case and the apply side is the servo that apply's until the pin stops. So if you want adjustment you'll have to adjust your air pressure. No adjustments to screw all the way in then 1 1/2 turns out or anything like that. : )

I have been running the same thing for years and I think it is the best all around , nothing better , run the 2 lugs in untill they are snug and back them out 1/2 to 3/4 turn , your staging limit is up to your converter,
the band replacement is so easy and cheep if we are running alot I will put 1 in at the first of the season and one about mid summer just to be safe , you can get it from any trans shop its just a turbo 400 band about $20, and I would never test the TB with the car jacked up if you have your stall RPM to high and the band does slip its done and you may not know untill you go to stage it if you do this I think it will never fail
    Good luck

That's not entirely true, the two lugs and locknuts are for band retention, and do have to be adjusted so that the lugs don't push the band into the drum, like GTPerf said. The air piston has enough travel and reacts quickly enough that there really is no adjustment, but it has to have a bare minimum of 200psi to hold properly. Also the air dump solenoid, the one pushing the cone shaped teflon pushrod needs to be adjusted so that it has as much travel as possible, that is where the solenoid is the strongest and has the most holding power. With air off, apply 12v and screw solenoid in until it just touches the seat, then using the loosened locknut as a reference, screw in an additional 1 to 2 flats and tighten the locknut. Needs to be checked periodically as the teflon cone will get a little wear groove and reduce the seal until readjusted.
